Could this be the man who'll be running QRT's discretionary macro business?

Yesterday, we said that hedge fund Qube Research and Technologies (QRT) has started a discretionary macro business and has made a major hire to run it.

It's still not entirely clear who this person might be, but we have it on good authority that it might be Pushkar Jha, a former Goldman Sachs managing director, who joined DE Shaw in 2024 and who now appears to be moving on again.

Jha didn't respond to a request to comment for this article. Nor did QRT. Nor did DE Shaw. The FCA Register shows him leaving DE Shaw on July 30th.

Now multiple sources say Jha is the man. They also say he's building a very large team. How large? We don't know. But if you work in discretionary macro and you get a call from Jha, you might want to pick up the phone.
