A global consultancy are looking to hire a DevOps Engineer - Azure
This role will need someone who is extremely technical, innovative and able to come up with creative solutions to complex problems. An analytical thinker capable of decision making when under pressure
This person will be responsible for the underlying project infrastructure (mainly Azure but some GCP) and ensuring the smooth daily operations of all our environments and systems. You'll support development teams in ensuring they have the correct target infrastructure and delivery pipelines for the many different types of platforms and applications we and our clients rely on.
They'll also be familiar with how software projects and delivered and supported at various stages and some of the methodologies typically used (Agile, Scrum, ITIL, SRE) and understand the fundamentals of software development.
We're on the journey of adopting modern techniques and tools and applying those to both legacy and greenfield applications. IaaS, PaaS, Infrastructure as Code, Containerisation
Responsibilities
- Build and design of Azure workloads and deployments
- Implementing virtualisation
- Working with technology suppliers to ensure that our key software platforms and systems are deployed reliably and cost effectively with appropriate sizing and flexibility.
- Working with support teams to providing 3rd line technical support within UK business hours professionally and efficiently, maintaining a high degree of customer service
- Supporting environments and taking ownership of complex problems, performing technical diagnosis and fixing issues
- Involvement in the overall incident, problem, change and release management processes as well as request fulfillment.
- Scheduling and upgrading all production and UAT environments with new software releases
- Continuous monitoring of the health of production environments and minimising environment downtime
Required Skills
- Experienced in core Azure stack and exposure to GCP (compute, storage, app engine etc)
- Operating Systems: Windows Server and Linux (desirable)
- Azure DevOps suite for managing work and
- Build, execution and maintenance of automated deployment pipelines
- Scripting languages such as Powershell, Bash and C#
- Infrastructure as code tools i.e. Terraform\HashiCorp Tools
- Container management i.e. Docker, Kubernetes etc
