Shape the Future of Engineering in Financial Services
The Role
As an Engineering Director at Capco, you'll lead high-performing engineering teams to deliver complex, impactful technology solutions across financial services. You'll combine deep technical expertise with inspiring leadership, guiding engineers to create scalable, innovative, and client-focused products. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends delivery, mentoring, and technical excellence to shape the next generation of digital platforms in banking and finance. You'll also champion AI-enabled ways of working, encouraging the responsible use of approved AI and automation tools to improve engineering productivity, accelerate delivery, and enhance quality while ensuring appropriate governance, human oversight, and responsible AI practices.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional engineering teams, fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture that delivers exceptional software solutions.
- Establish and promote engineering best practices, driving quality, resilience, performance, and continuous improvement across delivery teams while embedding AI-enabled engineering approaches where appropriate.
- Partner with clients and senior stakeholders to define technology strategies and deliver complex transformation initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, includingAI-enabled capabilities, and applying them responsibly to improve engineering outcomes and client value.
- Contribute to Capco's engineering community by sharing knowledge, developing technical capability, and encouraging the responsible use of approved AI tools and automation across engineering teams.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering end-to-end software solutions within Financial Services organisations.
- Strong technical background in one or more core technology stacks (for example Java, .NET, or similar), with the credibility to guide engineering teams and influence technical direction.
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies, modern DevOps practices, software architecture, and scalable engineering principles.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex, enterprise-scale applications while using AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve delivery efficiency, quality, and engineering effectiveness with appropriate human oversight.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams including Designers, Testers, Product Owners, and Architects.
- Background managing multiple engineering teams across complex programmes, portfolios, or global delivery environments.
- Experience supporting pre-sales activities, solution shaping, and contributing to technical proposals and client presentations.
- Passion for developing people, advancing engineering capability, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Interest in responsible AI, automation, and emerging engineering technologies to enhance software delivery and organisational capability.
- Deliver high-impact technology solutions for Tier 1 financial institutions.
