Our client are a global private equity firm focused on acquiring and investing in growing businesses valued at up to $300 million. Since their founding in the 1980s, our client has invested in more than 500 transactions. The firm’s international portfolio includes more than 80 companies and covers $8.4bn AUM. Our client are looking to hire a Vice President, to work as part of the Scandinavian-coverage team. There is also an opportunity to gain meaningful exposure in working with colleagues in their other offices throughout Europe.

Job description

Vice Presidents play a lead role in the evaluation of new investment opportunities, due diligence and transaction execution, portfolio company work post-close, and leading the exit process. As part of our client's global platform, Vice Presidents specialize in one of five sectors: Specialty Manufacturing & Distribution, Consumer Brands, Healthcare, Education & Training, and Business Services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing knowledge capital and industry insights within one of five sectors where our client specializes.
  • Leading the assessment of new deal opportunities in conjunction with our client’s Origination team, leveraging many research tools and resources available.
  • Playing a lead role in “winning” new deal opportunities.
  • Leading the due diligence process, including developing the threshold issues in support of an investment decision.
  • Leading the development of investment committee communications (memos) and participating actively in investment committee discussions.
  • Managing junior personnel in the deal process.
  • Sitting on the board of directors for platform companies within our client's portfolio and supporting the development of the strategic plan for the business.
  • Playing a lead role in identifying add-on acquisition targets and executing those.

Candidate profile

The successful candidate will be fluent in English and one Scandinavian language and should have six years transaction and investing experience in an investment bank and in a middle market private equity firm (at least 4 years Private Equity with appropriate prior experience in Investment Banking/Audit/Consulting/etc.). She/he should also possess a track record of completed deals, both platforms and add-ons, and ideally some exited deal experience. Strong quantitative skills and analytical skills are required as well as creative research skills, robust writing, and editing ability. An MBA is strongly desired.

Additionally, to that, the candidate should be a self-confident, balanced personality who is able to look at business cases from different perspectives and also consider possible solutions in a wider context. He / she should be open for new things, be interested in new market developments / new technologies and curious for new ideas.
